Based on the story of the same name. A circus clown has sheltered a homeless dog and is rehearsing a performance with it, while a boy named Fedya – Kashtanka’s former master – is looking for her in vain.
 

1954: The Swedish Match

A screen version of a story of the same name. Provincial coroner Tchubikov and his assistant Dyukovsky are trying to solve the mystery of a supposed murder of retired cornet Klyauzov. The main piece of evidence is a burnt match found at the scene of crime.
